At Kubicek Balloons, safety is paramount! Here are essential safety tips on using the quick release to ensure a smooth and secure takeoff:
1. Always use the quick release on every takeoff, even in calm conditions.
It helps the pilot build a routine, reducing the chance of forgetting it when needed.
Minimizes the risk of injury to bystanders or passengers from unexpected basket movement.
2. Use the quick release to hold the basket before takeoff, not the crew.
Prevents lifting a person hanging outside the basket. The crew can push the basket horizontally but should never put weight on it before takeoff.
3. Never detach the quick release on the ground; do it after the balloon starts climbing.
This minimizes the risk of hitting obstacles.
Never release the quick release when the balloon is moving horizontally or downward to avoid hitting something.
4. Always store the quick release inside the basket after takeoff.
Leaving it hanging on the burner frame can cause injury during landing.
